Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has suggested that his former Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, may be “mentally unstable” following recent allegations against his administration, including claims of diverting N2 billion monthly to Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

Speaking during a meeting with 444 ward councillors in Kano, Governor Yusuf dismissed Bichi’s accusations as baseless and aimed at misleading the public. He accused the former official of spreading lies in a desperate bid to discredit the government and tarnish the image of respected figures like Kwankwaso.
The governor specifically took aim at radio stations that aired Bichi’s claims, warning them to desist from broadcasting unverified allegations or face legal action. “We will no longer tolerate media platforms being used to promote falsehoods against this administration,” he said.
Governor Yusuf further defended Kwankwaso, praising his contributions to the development of Kano and his decades-long service in Nigerian politics. “No amount of blackmail can erase his legacy,” he said.
In a final swipe, Yusuf questioned Bichi’s loyalty to the state, stating that his behavior was not reflective of a true son of Kano. He added that if the former SSG continues on this path, the government may be forced to disown him completely.
