A statement from his media team dismissed a viral letter claiming he declined the position, describing it as “false and malicious.” The team said the document was fabricated and aimed at misleading the public and discrediting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Babangida expressed sincere gratitude to President Tinubu for the trust and confidence reposed in him, pledging full commitment to the responsibilities of the office.
His team noted that an investigation would be launched to identify those behind the fake letter, warning that individuals who peddle misinformation would be held accountable.
They also urged Nigerians to rely on credible sources for accurate information and avoid spreading unverified claims that could cause confusion.
Babangida was among several individuals appointed last week by President Tinubu to lead strategic federal agencies.
