In a bid to address the persistent complaints about begging and extortion at Nigeria’s international airports, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has assured Nigerians that a solution is imminent.

Keyamo took to his verified X handle to acknowledge the numerous complaints he has received from concerned citizens and to provide an update on the efforts being made to tackle the issue.

According to the Minister, while the agencies responsible for the menace are not under the direct control of the Aviation Ministry, he has been working closely with other relevant Ministers, government agencies, and the National Security Adviser to coordinate a comprehensive response.

Kayamo disclosed that a meeting was set up few days ago to bring a solution to begging and extortion at the airports “We are all working under the coordination of the National Security Adviser who called a meeting a few days ago on this issue and we shall soon unveil practical steps being taken to stem this ugly tide.”

Keyamo expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their vigilance and concern, assuring them that the government is committed to restoring the country’s image and ensuring a safe and secure environment for travelers.
