The Nigerian Army has published the names of candidates shortlisted for the Short Service Combatant Commission (SSCC) Course 49/2026.

In a statement on Monday, signed by the Military Secretary (Army), the service said the full list of successful applicants is now available on its recruitment portal: recruitment.army.mil.ng.

Shortlisted candidates are required to report to the Nigerian Defence Academy’s Ribadu Campus (Old Site) in Kaduna State on 1 December 2025. Applicants are expected to arrive in Kaduna on 30 November and must check in with the Selection Board between 6 a.m. and 11 a.m. on the reporting day. Late arrivals after 11 a.m. will be disqualified.

Applicants must present original and photocopies of all academic and professional certificates, including NYSC discharge or exemption papers, birth certificate, state-of-origin certificate, BVN printout, NIN slip, and completed SSCC portal forms. A signed Letter of Consent from a recognized court confirming that a parent or guardian will not seek compensation in case of injury or death during the exercise is also required.

The Army has listed essential items candidates should bring, including writing materials, blue shorts, white T-shirts, white canvas shoes, toiletries, bedding, full-size colored photographs, and scratch cards for WAEC or NECO verification.

The selection process will include document verification, physical and medical examinations, academic testing, and an oral interview. Any tampering with submitted documents will result in automatic disqualification. While the Army will provide housing and meals during the board, candidates must cover their own transportation, and visits from outsiders or private vehicles are prohibited.

Strict discipline will be enforced throughout the exercise. The Army warned that it will not be liable for any injuries or fatalities, as the selection process is conducted under military conditions.
