The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya has ordered the immediate release of Hannah Sofiat, a female soldier reprimanded for indulging in a public romance with a corps member at the National Youth Service Corps Orientation Camp in Yikpata, Kwara State.

The female soldier was seen accepting a marriage proposal from a corps member simply identified as Remi.

The scene was captured in a video that went viral on social media.

Sofia was said to have been taken into custody on December 14, 2021, for violating the extant rule guiding the conduct of Military personnel when she shared a hug and kiss to the delight of other corps members at the mammy market.

Meanwhile, investigations have revealed that that the duo have been entangled in love for the past three years while in Abeokuta, Ogun State before the lady joined the military.

Romantic soldier, corper met three years before NYSC camp – Family

The family of the youth corper simply identified as Remi, who proposed to a female soldier, Private Sofiyat Akinlabi, at the National Youth Service Corps Orientation Camp in Yikpata, Kwara State, has said that the duo started their friendship three years ago in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

According to the family member, Remi and Akinlabi’s friendship started in Abeokuta over three years ago before the latter joined the military.

The lovebirds had shared a hug and kiss to the delight of other corpers at the Mammy market.
