According to a statement published on the army’s official website and social media channels, the mourning period will run from June 25 to 27, 2025. During this time, the Nigerian Army flag will be flown at half-mast across all military formations and institutions across the country.

The attack, which targeted military bases in both Niger and Kaduna states, has drawn widespread condemnation and sparked national grief.

The army urged all personnel to observe the mourning period in recognition of the fallen soldiers’ sacrifices, reaffirming its commitment to the welfare and honour of its members.

“The Nigerian Army deeply mourns the loss of our brave soldiers and stands in solidarity with their families and loved ones during this difficult time,” the statement read.

The army further noted that this act of remembrance is not only a tribute to the deceased but also a call for national reflection on the sacrifices made by security personnel to ensure peace and stability in Nigeria.
