A resident, Mallam Zaharaddin, said the incident happened late Sunday night when the assailants, suspected to be armed robbers, trailed the victim after he withdrew money for his business, Daily Post reports.

The attackers reportedly blocked the victim on his way home, shot him dead, and then began firing sporadically while raiding nearby shops.

Security operatives later arrived at the scene and evacuated the injured victims to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.

Zaharaddin lamented that this was not the first time such an incident had occurred in the area, which shares a border with Jigawa State.

He appealed to the government and security agencies to intensify patrols and strengthen security presence to protect residents from recurring attacks.
