Idris, who leads Madrasatul Kanzul Huda, disclosed that the attackers entered the house while he was asleep. He said they did not steal his phone or the motorcycle parked outside and took nothing from the home. Instead, they threatened the couple and attacked them with machetes, Arewa Update reports.

Idris sustained six cuts on his hand and two on his head, while his wife received two cuts on her hand.

The Kano State branch of the Council for the Unity of Islamic Teachers and Schools condemned the assault and called on security authorities to investigate the incident.

Idris is receiving treatment at Murtala Specialist Hospital, but his surgery has been delayed due to a lack of funds.
