Faruruwa village in Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State was thrown into panic on Sunday night when armed bandits stormed the community, kidnapping five women, including nursing mothers.

The attack occurred around 11 p.m. in the town of Yan Kwada. According to residents, the assailants moved from house to house, forcing doors open and firing shots to terrorize the community before taking the women. Two of the abducted women later returned home, but three remain in captivity.
The incident has deepened fear among villagers, particularly in areas close to the Katsina border. Security observers suggest that increased pressure from a recent peace agreement in Katsina may be pushing criminal elements into Kano communities.
Local leaders and security experts are urging the Kano State Government to enhance security measures along border areas and work closely with authorities in Katsina to prevent further attacks.
The latest abduction comes just a week after the military neutralized 19 bandits in the region, prompting many residents of Faruruwa and nearby villages to flee to urban areas in search of safety.
