The Arewa Youth Council has dismissed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s attempt to form a political coalition ahead of the 2027 elections, describing it as an alliance of politicians struggling to regain relevance.

In a statement signed by the council’s president on Thursday, Comrade Adams Reuben, the group said Atiku lacks the moral authority to lead any national movement, referencing his involvement in the privatization of public assets during his tenure as chairman of the National Council on Privatisation.

It accused him of being driven by personal ambition and frustration, especially in his recent remarks against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to the council, the proposed coalition is unlikely to gain traction and does not represent a viable alternative to the current administration. It argued that Atiku’s repeated failures at the polls stand in contrast to Tinubu’s electoral success in 2023, which it claimed reflected Nigerians’ trust in his leadership.

The youth group urged Atiku to stop disrupting national unity and allow the current government to concentrate on fulfilling its responsibilities.

It also reaffirmed its support for President Tinubu’s administration and called on citizens to remain focused on unity and national progress.
