A coalition of youth organisations from Northern Nigeria has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to appoint Hon. Nasir Bala Aminu, popularly known as Ja’oji, as the new Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

The appeal followed an emergency meeting of the Coordinated Arewa Youth Groups, North West branch, held in Kano on Thursday, July 24, 2025. The position became vacant after the former minister, Yilwatda Nentawe, was appointed as the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement issued at the end of the meeting and signed by Balarabe Abdullahi Jega, Zonal Coordinator of the North West branch, the group highlighted Kano’s electoral support for President Tinubu during the 2023 general elections, describing the state as the “engine room” of APC votes in the North. They appealed to the President to consider rewarding the North West zone, particularly Kano, with the ministerial slot.
The youth groups threw their weight behind Ja’oji, a member of the Governing Council of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Potiskum, and a well-known philanthropist. They praised his contributions to education, youth empowerment, and grassroots development, saying his leadership had earned him recognition across the region.
“His name rings a bell in both political circles and grassroots communities across the North,” the statement read. “He runs scholarship programmes for students locally and abroad and has consistently shown loyalty to the APC and the President’s vision.”
The Emir of Daura recently honoured Ja’oji with the traditional title “Adon Garin Kasar Hausa” in recognition of his service to humanity and youth development.
According to the group, Ja’oji’s track record in national integration, women empowerment, and inclusive governance positions him as the ideal candidate for the ministry.
They expressed confidence that if appointed, he would bring dedication, capacity, and political will to the role.
