Rev. Donatus Obi-Ozoemena, a governorship aspirant, under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has assured residents of Enugu State of rapid socio-economic development if elected governor come 2023.

Obi-Ozoemena said this while addressing his supporters in Enugu in a forum to mobilise grassroots support for his “Operation Kick-Out Retrogression in Enugu” project.

He said that he wanted the state’s top job to lead Enugu State out of innate hunger and out of retrogression occasioned by bad governance.

Describing the project as a new dawn, he noted that he usually got hurt seeing his people, especially youths, battle with predicaments of lack of hope for the future, joblessness and insecurity among others.

The cleric, however, urged residents of the state to shift their support to APGA, alleging that the platform which they had supported since 1999 had produced no appreciable results.

According to him, my administration will transform the Coal City State (Enugu State) in no time if elected.

He said: “I have chosen not to run again after taking a shot at the governorship race in the state in 2019, due to certain personal reasons.

“But owing to God’s directive, overwhelming approval ratings, encouragement, support and prayers of the youth, the old, Christian brothers and others, I made up my mind to be your servant.

“I want to lead in rebuilding Enugu State to greatness and removing it from the claws of retrogression.

“I have decided not to stay aloof again and watch residents of our dear state continue to wallow in insecurity, lack of potable water, unemployment and absence of cottage industries as well as other job creation enablers.

“We are here to change these ugly narratives because our people are tired of insecurity, stagnation, joblessness and hopeless economy in this state.

“But hope is here. A new dawn beckons on us all.

“Our movement and our platform APGA understand that our people deserve and desire the amenities of quality life, good jobs, security and transparent government, devoid of corruption and insincerity.”

Obi-Ozoemena also called on the electorate to ensure they obtained their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), keep them safe and to use them to enthrone good governance come 2023. (NAN)
