The All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to cancel the by-election in Kano State’s Shanono/Bagwai constituency and the rerun in Ghari constituency, citing widespread violence and disruptions.

In a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said reports from the affected areas indicated that armed thugs invaded several polling units, forcing voters to flee and leaving security personnel overwhelmed.
According to the APC, the situation made it impossible for the exercise to be credible, warning that going ahead with the process under such circumstances would amount to endorsing intimidation and brigandage.
Morka stressed that allowing the elections to continue despite the violent atmosphere would undermine democratic principles of fairness and peace while setting what he described as a dangerous precedent for future polls.
The party urged INEC to act swiftly to prevent what it termed an “unacceptable electoral heist.”
