The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has expressed openness to the return of former Kano State Governor, Alhaji Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to the ruling party.

Ganduje made the remarks while receiving the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Alhaji Yusuf Ibrahim Ata, at the APC national secretariat in Abuja.
He said the party is ready to receive Kwankwaso if he decides to return, describing the move as morally appropriate and likening it to an elder sibling offering protection to a younger one. He also compared Kwankwaso’s current political standing to a fish out of water and noted that the APC would provide him with a more stable and supportive platform.
Meanwhile, Ata, a former Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, visited Ganduje to express his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and the APC leadership.
While recognizing Ganduje’s leadership role, Ata stated that he personally does not support the idea of Kwankwaso returning to the APC. Nonetheless, he reaffirmed his commitment to helping the party secure Kano State ahead of the 2027 elections.
Ata also observed that the Kwankwasiyya movement, a political group led by Kwankwaso and named after his hometown, is losing its influence in Kano State.
