A group under the aegis of Anambra Youth Volunteers (AYV) has vowed to help Prof. Chukwuma Soludo to restore sanity to roads in Anambra and combat insecurity.
Mr Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu, the Coordinator of the group said this during a sensitisation workshop for youths in Onitsha on Tuesday.
Okpalaezeukwu said the group’s position followed the abolition of touting and all illegal collections in the state by Soludo after his inauguration on March 17.

The group said it would focus on traffic surveillance and monitoring, and assist the state government and security agencies to sanitise every corner of the state and get rid of touts that had tormented the state for a while.
He recalled that the Police Commissioner, Mr Echeng Echeng, had directed his officers to enforce the governor’s order on touting noting that there was need for citizens’ action.
He said, “We the Anambra Youths Volunteers hereby declare our resolve to assist the state government and the security agencies in checking these youths’ prone excesses.
“We will collaborate with government and security agencies to end all criminal activities; no more snatching of handbags, phones and personal belongings of innocent citizens.
“We are going to assist and ensure that peace, law and order are restored in Anambra,” he said.
Okpalaezeukwu urged youths involved in touting and other unlawful activities in Anambra to desist from them and take advantage of windows of opportunities the government would provide.
He said such activities had become crime and that the law would take its course on apprehended culprits.
