The announcement was made in a statement issued on Wednesday by the company’s secretary, Temitope Hassan. The statement credited Dangote with guiding the firm to a leading position in Nigeria’s sugar market through large-scale expansion and strong corporate governance.
Under his leadership, Dangote Sugar implemented Backward Integration Projects across several states, aimed at boosting domestic sugar production and reducing dependence on imports.
As Dangote prepares to step down, the Board has appointed Arnold Ekpe, an Independent Non-Executive Director, as his successor. Ekpe, a former Group CEO of Ecobank, is expected to bring his extensive corporate experience to the role.
The Board thanked Dangote for his years of service and expressed confidence in Ekpe’s ability to lead the company into a new phase of growth.
