Al-Istiqama University, Sumaila, has announced that its convocation ceremony will take place on February 21 and 22, 2025, coinciding with significant upgrades aimed at enhancing academic and student life.

This is contained in a press statement issued by the university’s management on Monday, highlighting ongoing infrastructural improvements and efforts to provide a conducive learning environment.
The university, located on the outskirts of Kano, is implementing major infrastructural improvements, including the tarring of internal roads and the installation of solar-powered streetlights. These developments align with the university’s commitment to sustainability, as it integrates renewable energy sources such as solar power alongside conventional electricity to ensure uninterrupted learning and research.


Efforts to modernize learning spaces are also underway, with classrooms, lecture halls, and laboratories being equipped with advanced facilities to foster innovative teaching methods and hands-on learning. Additionally, student hostels have been upgraded to provide a more comfortable living environment for both male and female students.
Senator Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila, the university’s founder, highlighted the institution’s dedication to merging academic excellence with strong character development. “Our goal is to bridge the gap between education and character, particularly in northern Nigeria. We are committed to providing quality education in a conducive environment that nurtures discipline and growth,” he stated.
