Amina reportedly died from complications following a caesarean section. Her family claims the surgery was delayed over concerns about blood availability for a possible transfusion. Despite undergoing the procedure, her condition worsened soon after, leading to severe breathing difficulties.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Amina’s sister alleged that the hospital failed to provide prompt and professional care. She also accused the hospital of failing to supply adequate oxygen, with unstable electricity supply further compounding the situation.
The grieving sister criticized what she described as inconsistent treatment and lack of compassion from the hospital staff. According to her, repeated requests for Amina to be moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) were ignored. Instead, she was returned to the labour room—a move the family felt was inappropriate for her deteriorating condition.
Reacting to the incident, the hospital’s Public Relations Officer, Hajia Hauwa Inuwa Dutse, said the case file had been submitted to hospital management for further review. She assured that a full investigation would be conducted and that the public would be informed of the outcome.
Meanwhile, the family has vowed to pursue legal action, working with human rights lawyers to seek justice for Amina.
