In a statement issued by Akpabio’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, the claims were described as baseless and malicious. Eyiboh maintained that Akpabio remains focused on his responsibilities in the Senate and is not distracted by what he termed as unfounded accusations.
Abbo, during an interview on Channels Television, alleged that Akpabio was running the Senate as a personal empire. However, Eyiboh countered that Abbo’s removal was purely a judicial decision, clarifying that the courts found he was not duly elected. He further recalled that Abbo had previously withdrawn similar allegations in 2023, admitting they were based on incomplete information.
The statement also highlighted Akpabio’s respect for judicial independence, emphasizing that he would not interfere in court processes. Addressing Abbo’s claim of being denied entitlements, Eyiboh stated that any financial matters would have followed due process in line with Senate regulations.
Concluding the statement, Eyiboh advised Abbo to reflect on his actions, uphold the rule of law, and work towards regaining the trust of his constituents if he seeks a return to public office.
