A convoy carrying Abubakar Malami, African Democratic Congress (ADC) leader in Kebbi State and former Minister of Justice, was attacked by suspected political thugs on Monday while he was visiting families in the metropolis to offer condolences.

According to eyewitnesses, around 10 vehicles in the convoy were vandalised, and several of Malami’s supporters sustained injuries of varying degrees.
Malami condemned the attack, describing the incident as “unfortunate and painful.” He said the assailants emerged from the APC state headquarters armed with weapons and stones, adding, “It is painful that some thugs, armed with dangerous weapons and stones, attacked and destroyed vehicles in our convoy.” Malami described the attack as politically motivated.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State, however, denied any involvement in the incident. The party condemned the attack, emphasizing that Kebbi is generally a peaceful state.
APC’s Publicity Secretary, Isa Assalafy, countered Malami’s claims, alleging that armed security personnel attached to his convoy opened fire, worsening the situation.
