The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has received a petition calling for the recall of suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central.

The petition was submitted on Monday to INEC’s Secretary, Rose Oriaran-Anthony.
Signed by over 250,000 registered voters from the Kogi Central Senatorial District, the petition accuses Akpoti-Uduaghan of gross misconduct, abuse of office, evasion of due process, and deceptive actions. The petitioners argue that her conduct has embarrassed the people of Kogi Central and tarnished the integrity of the Nigerian Senate.
Invoking Section 69 of the 1999 Constitution and INEC’s regulations on recall petitions, the signatories demand that the commission initiate the process to remove Akpoti-Uduaghan from office and declare her seat vacant.
Akpoti-Uduaghan, who is currently serving a six-month suspension for misconduct and violating Senate rules, now faces a recall process that must be concluded within 90 days, as required by law.
