A 23-year-old man, Usman Mohammad, lost his life after being stabbed by armed hoodlums who attacked worshippers during Tahajjud prayers at Layin Bilya, Makwa Road, Rigasa, Kaduna, in the early hours of Friday.

Confirming the incident, Kaduna State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, said operatives received a distress call at around 2:00 a.m. on March 21, 2025, alerting them to an attack by armed hoodlums mobilized from different areas. A team of officers, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and the Commander of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), rushed to the scene.


However, before their arrival, the assailants had already stabbed Mohammad with a sharp knife. He was rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention but succumbed to his injuries.
Following the attack, security operatives arrested 12 suspects who confessed to participating in the assault. Weapons were also recovered from them, and an investigation is ongoing to bring all those involved to justice.
In response to the incident, the Kaduna State Police Command has strengthened security in strategic locations, particularly around mosques.
