The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed that six people lost their lives and 14 vehicles were destroyed in a fire outbreak following a truck accident on Nyanya Bridge in Abuja on Wednesday night.

According to police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh, the incident occurred around 6:58 p.m. when a heavily loaded Dangote truck lost control and crashed into vehicles stuck in traffic. The impact ignited a massive blaze, causing panic among motorists and commuters.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene, battling the raging fire and thick smoke to rescue those trapped. Unfortunately, six victims who were rushed to the hospital succumbed to their injuries. Their remains have been deposited at Karu General Hospital Morgue.

The police have assured the public that investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the accident and prevent future occurrences. Meanwhile, residents have been urged to exercise caution on the roads and report emergencies through designated hotlines.
