Daily News 24 reports that the directive was contained in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, following a Ramadan breakfast meeting with the Emirs at the Government House in Kano.

Governor Yusuf highlighted the deep cultural significance of the Durbar, emphasizing that citizens eagerly anticipate the festivities, which include donning new attire, watching the Emirs parade on horseback, and exchanging greetings.

The governor reaffirmed his commitment to preserving this tradition, vowing that no opposition would disrupt the people’s right to celebrate. He also assured that security agencies would be mobilized to ensure the safety of all participants during the event.

Additionally, Governor Yusuf announced that the Kano State Emirate Council would be officially inaugurated in April, with its operational guidelines and ethical framework to be unveiled during the inauguration.

Commending the Emirs for their unity and mutual respect, he noted that their positive relationship was unprecedented in the state’s history.

Speaking on behalf of the Emirate Council, Chairman Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II confirmed the cordial relationship among the Emirs and urged the state government to utilize traditional institutions for effective grassroots communication and policy implementation.

The Emirs of Karaye, Rano, and Gaya—Muhammad Muhammad Maharaz, Amb. Muhammad Isa Umaru, and Dr. Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir—expressed appreciation to the governor for his support in the areas of fertilizer distribution, education, healthcare, and road infrastructure.
