Atikulated Media, a support group for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has cautioned Deputy Senate President Barau I. Jibrin against allegedly executing a plan to undermine presidential candidates from the North ahead of the 2027 elections.

The warning was issued in a statement signed by Comrade Umar Gajo, chairman of the group, who dismissed recent reports of mass defections from Atiku Abubakar’s camp to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a staged spectacle. According to Gajo, those presented as defectors are not genuine supporters but impostors used to create a false narrative.

He accused Jibrin of being used to weaken the support base of northern candidates, a strategy he believes will ultimately backfire and create political setbacks for the deputy senate president.

“Atiku’s true supporters cannot be swayed by financial inducements, unlike those we call ‘Awanki Gara’—people who switch sides for money,” Gajo stated. He stressed that Atikulated Media does not believe in paying people to defect, calling such tactics undemocratic.

The group also pointed to Jibrin’s past claim of receiving defectors from Rabiu Kwankwaso’s camp, only for them to later return to their original party. This, they said, earned him the derogatory nickname “Awanki Gara.”

Atikulated Media reiterated that Atiku Abubakar enjoys the backing of over 35 million followers and remains committed to scrutinizing budget allocations to ensure transparency and fairness in governance.
