Former Minister of Works, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, has claimed that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s beauty poses a challenge for her in politics, stating that male politicians struggle to engage with her in serious discussions.

Speaking on The Morning Show on Arise TV on Monday, Ogunlewe said that while female senators are generally confident, Akpoti-Uduaghan’s physical appearance influences how men perceive her.

According to Ogunlewe, men’s attitudes change when they encounter a beautiful woman, making it difficult for them to focus on meaningful conversations. “When a beautiful woman passes by, a man will look. It is natural. And when she is in a political setting, men may smile or wink, but engaging in serious discussions becomes a challenge,” he said.

His remarks come amid the Senate’s six-month suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. The Kogi Central lawmaker was suspended after accusing Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment. As part of the punishment, her salary and security details have been withdrawn, and she has been directed to issue a formal apology to the Senate for alleged misconduct.
