The incident occurred on Thursday, shortly after Byezhe had eaten Sahur (pre-dawn meal) and performed ablution. Witnesses said he joined other worshippers for Subhi prayers but suddenly slumped mid-prayer.
Musa Dantani, a resident who witnessed the incident, said fellow worshippers quickly rushed Byezhe to the hospital in Kuje. According to him, the deceased was still breathing during the journey but was pronounced dead upon arrival. A doctor at the hospital later attributed his death to high blood pressure.
Sources revealed that Byezhe had been managing hypertension, which may have worsened during prayers. His remains were laid to rest at 10:12 am the same day, following Islamic burial rites.
His son, who was present at the mosque, accompanied those who took him to the hospital and witnessed the doctor confirming his death.
