The event, led by the state commandant, Comdt Shafi’u Abdulmumini, saw senior management staff, officers, and men of the command participating in the trek, accompanied by the command’s band crew.
Speaking after the walk, Comdt Shafi’u assured Kano residents of the corps’ commitment to ensuring safety, particularly as the Ramadan fast begins. “We will also redouble efforts in ensuring the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure,” he said.

As part of the celebration, a special prayer session was held at the Jum’at mosque in Kwankwasiyya City, led by Barrister Sheikh Habibu Dan Almajiri, seeking divine protection and guidance for NSCDC personnel. A church service is also scheduled for Sunday.
The annual International Civil Defence Day aims to raise awareness about disaster preparedness, foster community engagement in emergency response, highlight civil defence’s role in public safety, and appreciate officers’ dedication to their mission.
