The President of the Association of African Private Universities (AAPU), Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, on Thursday visited Baba-Ahmed University in Kano, emphasizing the need for stronger collaboration among private universities in Africa.

Prof. Gwarzo, who is also the founder of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), led a delegation that included MAAUN President, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr, alongside senior management staff.

The delegation was warmly received at the university’s open theater by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Adamu Tanko Idris, faculty members, and students.

In his remarks, Prof. Idris commended Prof. Gwarzo for his contributions to education and humanity across Africa. He described the visit as a significant milestone in strengthening academic partnerships and prayed for Prof. Gwarzo’s continued success in advancing education.

Prof. Gwarzo, in response, praised the Vice-Chancellor for his leadership and commitment to academic excellence. He highlighted the importance of inter-university collaboration in fostering research, innovation, and institutional growth.

He also acknowledged the contributions of Baba-Ahmed University’s founder, Datti Baba-Ahmed, to quality education and urged the university’s staff to support the Vice-Chancellor’s vision for progress.

During the visit, two students of Baba-Ahmed University presented an award of excellence to Prof. Gwarzo in recognition of his impact on education.

Other members of Prof. Gwarzo’s entourage included Dr. Abba Jidda and Dr. Musa Lawal Jibia, among others.
