The Chairman of the council, Aminu Najumei, confirmed the development on Friday, stating that Usman managed to flee while the kidnappers were searching for a hiding place.
Usman, his wife, two children, and another individual were abducted on Thursday at their residence in Sarkin Pawa, a community near a riverbank. They were later moved to Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, a region notorious for terrorist activities.
The remaining captives, including his wife, Deborah Daina, are still in captivity. Security agencies have assured that efforts are ongoing to secure their release.
This incident comes a month after a similar attack in January, when gunmen stormed the residence of the Malumfashi Local Government Chairman, Hon. Maharazu Dayi, in Katsina State. The attack resulted in the killing of his security aide and the abduction of his four-year-old child.
