Speaking during a meeting in his office with representatives of various development organizations, Danmaraya emphasized the need to identify priority areas for capacity building while assessing the ministry’s strengths and weaknesses.

“When I came to the ministry, I identified that there are capacity gaps, and we need to bridge those gaps to improve our operations and performance,” he stated.

He explained that the assessment would pave the way for a capacity improvement strategy, ultimately creating a clear roadmap for the ministry’s development.

The commissioner stressed that his vision for a “system strengthening approach” could only be realized with the backing of donor organizations. He urged key partners, including UNICEF, PLANE, PACE, the LAFIYA Project, and PropcomPlus-funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO)-to support the ministry’s reform efforts.

In response, representatives of the development organizations reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the state government, not only in capacity building but also in improving the lives of Kano residents. They also advocated for closer coordination with government agencies to achieve more effective results.
