The workshop, titled Women Behind the Camera, was held at the ARTV Theater and focused on equipping participants with essential filmmaking techniques to promote self-reliance and productivity beyond acting.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Executive Secretary of the board, Abba El-Mustapha, described the initiative as the first of its kind in Kannywood’s history. He expressed optimism that it would reshape the industry’s narrative and inspire both existing actresses and future female filmmakers.

Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Abdullahi Ibrahim Waiya, urged the participants to uphold Islamic teachings and respect Hausa culture, norms, and values in their craft. He also announced plans to collaborate with Bollywood and adopt global best practices to further develop the Kannywood industry.

Chairlady of the Kannywood Actresses, Hajia Rashida Maisa’a, commended the censorship board for organizing the training, describing it as timely given the increasing demand for female professionals in various aspects of film production.
