PCACC Chairman Muhuyi Rimin-Gado, who disclosed this via WhatsApp on Tuesday, said the suspects, including the council’s Director of Personnel Management, Treasurer, and Cashier, are currently in custody.
According to the commission, the local government officials were initially directed to issue a payment of N105,000 for a program but allegedly wrote a cheque of N105 million to the governor’s aide in November 2024. The discrepancy raised suspicions, prompting an investigation by the anti-graft agency.
PCACC launched its probe after receiving intelligence from a financial monitoring system. During questioning, the detained officials claimed the payment was a mistake, but the commission remains doubtful due to the time lapse since November and other evidence gathered.
