The Kaduna State government has announced plans to upgrade 255 health clinics across all political wards within the next six months as part of efforts to achieve Universal Health Coverage.

Danjuma Muhammed, the focal person for the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund at the Kaduna State Primary Health Care Board, revealed this during a two-day Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Anchor IV grant project assessment meeting organized by Save the Children International in Kaduna.

According to him, the upgrade will bring the clinics to phase two standards, ensuring they are climate-resilient, equipped with at least 13 rooms, running water, adequate toilets, and staff accommodation. He noted that 185 clinics have already been fitted with solar power, while funding has been secured to revamp 143 additional facilities within the next six weeks.

The initiative aligns with the National Assembly’s vision of upgrading primary healthcare centers (PHCs) to support Universal Health Coverage.
