Barrister Hudu Ari, the sacked Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of Adamawa State, has insisted that Senator Aisha Binani, not Governor Umaru Ahmadu Fintiri, won the 2023 gubernatorial election.

Speaking at his private residence in Bauchi State, Ari swore by God that his declaration was based on documentary evidence. He expressed frustration that his claims of electoral irregularities were disregarded by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Adamawa State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal.

Ari accused the Head of ICT at INEC’s Adamawa office, Bala Aji, of manipulating the election process. He disclosed that Aji handed over around 20,000 election documents to Governor Fintiri, distributed BVAS machines, and bribed INEC officials with foreign currency on Election Day.

The former REC also denied allegations that he accepted a N2 billion bribe from politicians, stating that he was consulting his family on whether to take legal action. He lamented that his biggest concern was not his dismissal but the “media trial” that tarnished his reputation.
