President Bola Tinubu has formally requested the Senate’s approval to dismiss three suspended Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) from their positions.

The RECs, Ike Uzochukwu from Abia, Hudu Yunusa-Ari from Adamawa, and Nura Ali from Sokoto, were suspended due to allegations of misconduct during the 2023 general elections, including infractions on the Electoral Act, compromising elections, and abandoning their duties without valid reasons.

The request was communicated to the Senate through a letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Wednesday
