Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has accused his successor, Uba Sani, of blindly defending President Bola Tinubu due to the federal government’s selective allocation of over N150 billion to Kaduna State in the last 18 months.

El-Rufai made the claim in reaction to Uba Sani’s recent TVC interview, where the governor spoke about their ongoing feud saying his predecessor’s criticism against Tinubu was for selfish reasons.
He dismissed politicians hoping to challenge Tinubu in 2027. Sani questioned the track record of those who previously held power, saying, “Most of these politicians… were in government only less than two years ago. What did they do when they were in government? They were only fighting for power, not because they could do anything better.”
El-Rufai fired back on X, suggesting that the financial support Kaduna had received explained Sani’s unwavering loyalty to Tinubu. “Every day I see this governor embarrassingly and sycophantically rambling, I used to wonder why? However, confirming that Federal Government ‘reimbursements, interventions, and grants’ in excess of N150bn have been given selectively to Kaduna by Tinubu in the last 18 months now explains everything,” he wrote.
He also quoted former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, stressing the need for effective social services delivery in developing nations.
The feud between El-Rufai and Sani, both members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has intensified since Sani took office. El-Rufai, who was denied a ministerial appointment in 2023 over security concerns, has become an outspoken critic of Tinubu’s administration, accusing the APC of poor governance.
