In a letter detailing his resignation, Nwoko expressed gratitude to the PDP for providing him with a platform to contest the 2022/2023 senatorial election. However, he stated that the current structure of the party has hindered his ability to fulfill his campaign promises to his constituents.
Nwoko specifically pointed to the deep divisions and factionalism within the PDP, which he said have made it increasingly difficult to unite and work toward the collective interests of the people. He also referenced a recent incident where top party functionaries engaged in physical altercations, further highlighting the internal strife within the party.
Despite his departure, Ned Nwoko reaffirmed his commitment to the progress of Delta North and the nation as a whole. He emphasized that his decision was made in the best interest of those he serves and that his dedication to statesmanship and unity remains resolute.
It is believed that Ned Nwoko’s defection was also influenced by his dissatisfaction with the PDP’s lack of support for his developmental initiatives aimed at improving the Anioma region.
