The aircraft was carrying 53 passengers and 6 crew members. Airport authorities responded swiftly to clear the runway, ensuring uninterrupted flight operations. The runway was reopened at 8:00 AM on thursday after necessary cleaning.

According to FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Obiageli Orah, all passengers and crew members were unharmed. She added, “Emergency services were promptly deployed, and the incident was managed in accordance with our emergency response plan to ensure the safety of everyone involved.”

The affected aircraft has been towed to Bay 5 for further examination.

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has launched a comprehensive investigation to determine the root cause of the incident.
