He made this claim during a national conference on strengthening democracy held in Abuja on Monday.
Atiku revealed that he obtained this information through a meeting with a leadership of a political party in the opposition, who confessed to him that they had been offered N50 million each by the APC.
He expressed concerns about the erosion of democratic values in Nigeria, questioning the commitment of opposition parties to the democratic process.
He also criticized the current National Assembly, describing it as a “rubber stamp” for the executive arm of government, and raised doubts about the credibility of Nigeria’s electoral commission.
He cited the Turkish electoral body as an example of integrity, referencing its refusal to declare a president-elect who failed to meet the vote threshold, urging Nigeria to adopt similar standards.
Atiku called for unity among opposition parties to protect democracy and ensure a credible democratic process.
Reflecting on his personal struggles, he recounted the sacrifices he made for democracy, including surviving an attempt on his life, losing his businesses, and living in exile.
