The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) has confirmed that Abdullahi Ganduje, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), will continue to face prosecution for alleged bribery, misappropriation, and diversion of public funds.

Speaking on the matter on Channels Television, PCACC Chairman Muhuyi Rimingado stated that the investigation, which commenced in 2021, is still ongoing. He dismissed suggestions of a witch-hunt, highlighting his own ordeal during the process. “I was forced to leave my position, faced arrest, detention, assault, and humiliation, but I have returned to ensure justice prevails,” he said.

On Friday evening, operatives of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) monitoring unit detained the anti-graft chief at the Zone 1 Police Headquarters in Kano. Sources revealed that his lawyers were denied access to him, raising concerns among supporters of the commission.

The case, involving an eight-count charge, accuses Ganduje, a former Kano State governor, of misappropriating billions of naira. His wife, Hafsat Umar, along with other individuals, has also been listed as defendants.

Despite his legal battles, Ganduje was recently appointed by President Bola Tinubu as the chairman of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) board.

The Kano State High Court has adjourned the hearing of preliminary objections in the case to February 13, 2025.
