The Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has condemned the actions of security agencies blocking the venue for the upcoming National Tijjaniyya Maulud, set for Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Kofar Mata Stadium.

In a press briefing on Friday, Waiya expressed concern, stating, “This action is not only unnecessary but also unjustified, as there has been no report of any security threat in Kano State, that would warrant such an extreme measure.”

He added that the Kano State Government had not received any complaints about insecurity, calling the security presence at the venue unwarranted.

Waiya reaffirmed that the Maulud would proceed as planned, saying, “The National Tijjaniyya Maulud will hold as scheduled tomorrow, Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 8:00 AM at Kofar Mata Stadium.” He emphasized that the annual event, which has taken place for 39 years, should not be obstructed.

The commissioner also highlighted that the Tijjaniyya organization is a legitimate, registered entity and urged the Federal Government to remove the security forces.

“Kofar Mata Stadium is a property of Kano State Government, and there is no justification for any external force to obstruct a legitimate religious gathering,” he said.

Waiya concluded by reassuring attendees to remain calm and law-abiding.
