President Bola Tinubu has restructured the State House media and communications team to improve the efficiency of the federal government’s communication apparatus.
The changes, announced recently, involve the re-designation of key officials in the communications team.

Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, emphasized that the restructuring aligns with the administration’s objective to streamline the dissemination of policies and decisions to the public.
“These appointments underscore that there is no single individual spokesperson for the Presidency,” Onanuga stated, highlighting the shift towards a more collaborative approach in conveying government messages.
As part of the shake-up, Sunday Dare, who previously held the position of Special Adviser on Public Communication and National Orientation, has been re-designated as Special Adviser, Media and Public Communications.
On the other hand, Daniel Bwala, who was initially appointed as Special Adviser, Media and Public Communications, will now serve as Special Adviser, Policy Communication.
According to the statement, the new structure, which also includes the existing role of Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, ensures that the three Special Advisers collectively function as spokespersons for the Presidency.
“This approach aims to ensure effective and consistent communication of government policies, decisions, and engagements,” the statement concluded. The restructuring signals a shift towards a more team-based approach to communication, aimed at enhancing clarity and cohesion in the government’s messaging.
