Deputies stopped a black SUV driven by 49-year-old Vem Miller, a resident of Las Vegas. Upon investigation, officers discovered a shotgun, a loaded handgun, and a high-capacity magazine in Miller’s possession, all of which violated state law. He was subsequently taken into custody, and the investigation is ongoing.

Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco addressed the media on Sunday, stating that his deputies may have “stopped the third assassination attempt.” He explained that the officers became suspicious when Miller approached the perimeter.

“There were many irregularities that popped up,” Sheriff Bianco noted during a press conference. “They noticed the interior of the vehicle was in disarray and had an obviously fake license plate.”
