A delegation from Kano State visited the Lagos State Traditional Medicine Board (LSTMB) to strengthen traditional medicine practices and promote inter-state collaboration.
According to a statement released on Monday, the Registrar of the LSTMB, Prince Babatunde Adele, welcomed the Kano delegation, describing the visit as an important step towards sharing knowledge and expertise in traditional healing methods.

Adele emphasized the value of such cooperation in preserving Nigeria’s rich healing heritage, saying, “It’s encouraging to see inter-state cooperation aimed at advancing the growth of both regions and the country at large.”
Professor Salisu Ahmed, a member of the Kano delegation, explained that the purpose of the visit was to learn from the operations and procedures of the Lagos State Traditional Medicine Board. “By observing firsthand the successful practices implemented in Lagos, the Kano State delegation aimed to gather insights that could be applied to further develop traditional medicine in our state and region,” Ahmed stated.
For almost three days, the Kano team engaged in interactive sessions, collaborative discussions with relevant agencies, and visited various traditional medicine centres. Ahmed added that these activities provided the delegation with a comprehensive understanding of Lagos’ regulatory framework, treatment protocols, and licensing procedures.
Hakeem Bello, Director of Research, Training, and Development at the LSTMB, also commented on the significance of the visit, highlighting the commitment to preserving Nigeria’s traditional healing heritage. “Through this exchange, both states aimed to pave the way for a more integrated and regulated traditional medicine sector that prioritizes the well-being of its practitioners and patients,” Bello said.
