The women’s wing of the Kano Anglican Church has donated foodstuff and essential items to inmates at the Goron Dutse Medium Security Custodial Centre in Kano State.
The donations, which included toiletries, clothing buckets, various types of seasoning, and other foodstuffs, were presented during a visit by a church delegation aimed at promoting the welfare of the inmates.

Speaking during the presentation on Saturday, the Chairperson of All Anglican Women, Mrs. Edna Ezike, emphasized that the gesture was a small way for the group to support the inmates.
Mrs. Ezike urged the inmates to view their time in the facility as an opportunity for self-reflection and transformation. She encouraged them to adopt positive behaviors and avoid returning to their previous ways.
“Endeavour to utilise the skills acquired from the centre. We want to assure you that we are interested in your well-being. These items are donated to help add value to your standard of living,” she said.
Ezike added that the group has been visiting prisons for the past three years to offer advice and support to inmates. She also called on parents and the public to guide the youth in the right path, reminding them that prison is not a desirable place, especially for young people who are meant to be the future leaders.
She also appealed to philanthropists to regularly visit and provide inmates with necessities to make them feel loved.
A representative from the custodial centre, who accepted the items on behalf of the management, expressed gratitude for the timely gesture. “This gesture is well-appreciated by us as these items will greatly improve the welfare of the inmates in this facility. We thank you immensely,” the staff member stated.
