Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested Joe Ajaero, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

According to reports, Ajaero was taken into custody this morning as he was preparing to board a flight to the United Kingdom for an official assignment.

Sources indicate that he was scheduled to attend a conference of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in the UK, which is set to take place today.

While the specific reasons for Ajaero’s arrest remain unclear, it has been confirmed that he has been handed over to the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).
