Udinese has confirmed the commitment of Nigerian goalkeeper Maduka Okoye through a new contract, announced on the club’s official website.

Okoye, who was previously linked with Serie A champions Inter Milan and Torino, has signed a four-year extension with the Bianconeri, keeping him at the club until June 30, 2028.

The new deal ends speculation about his future, following a standout 2023-2024 season in which Okoye made a significant impact.

The German-born goalkeeper kept five clean sheets in Serie A, contributing crucially to Udinese’s survival in Italy’s top flight. Okoye’s performance throughout the season elevated him to one of the top goalkeepers in the league.

After joining Udinese from Watford in the summer of 2023, Okoye initially faced challenges, spending sixteen consecutive games as a substitute.

However, he secured the starting role following a strong Serie A debut against Bologna, where he earned a clean sheet in a 3-0 victory. Over the season, Okoye appeared in 22 matches, conceding 27 goals in 2010 minutes of play.

Internationally, Okoye was recalled to the Nigerian Super Eagles for June’s World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin but did not see action in those matches.

His career also includes stints at DJK SC Flingern 08, Fortuna Düsseldorf, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Bayer Leverkusen, and Sparta Rotterdam.
