The Kaduna State Security Council, led by Governor Uba Sani, has announced the immediate removal of the curfew imposed on Kaduna and Zaria towns.

Effective from Tuesday, 13th August 2024, the curfew, which restricted movement from 6 pm to 8 am, has been lifted.

Following a thorough review of the security situation, the council decided to end the curfew to allow residents to move freely and conduct legitimate activities without restriction. The decision was unanimously supported by the council during an assessment meeting held last night.

While the curfew has been lifted, the council has cautioned that any public processions or gatherings must be coordinated with relevant authorities to prevent disruptions and ensure public safety. Security forces will remain vigilant and address any threats to public peace, with offenders facing prosecution.

Governor Sani praised the efforts of security agencies, religious and traditional leaders, and other stakeholders in managing the situation after recent protests. He reiterated his commitment to engaging with all stakeholders to promote peace, unity, and development in Kaduna State.

The announcement was made by Samuel Aruwan, Overseeing Commissioner for the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State.
