Joke Silva says her husband has dementia

Recall that Daily News 24 reported how Nollywood veteran Joke Silva publicly spoke for the first time in a long while about the health of her husband, Olu Jacobs.

The movie star, in a chat with Chude Jideonwo, revealed that her husband has been battling dementia.

“He is dealing with issues and it has been going on for a couple of years. It is known as dementia with Lewy bodies,” she said.

“It is a degenerative disease that affects the brain, and it is almost like a Parkinson’s type of disease; it affects the brain and affects the person.” The actress revealed that this was the first time she would be talking about her husband’s health in public.

“For the first time, I’m saying this publicly. That is what we have been dealing with. But the thing is, it is hard on him because he doesn’t understand what is going on, and it is hard on us family members as well,” she added.

Silva further explained the emotional toll the disease has taken on their family, emphasizing the challenges of caring for someone with dementia. She highlighted the importance of raising awareness about the condition and expressed hope that sharing their experience might help others going through similar struggles.

Despite the difficulties, she remains committed to supporting her husband through this challenging journey.
